Here’s the archived Cinema Scope broadcast which aired on KSFR-FM February 3, 2012, promoting the screening of the “Best of” the New Media Film Festival at The Screen in Santa Fe. I’m on the first segment, running about 9 minutes. You can also find the archive of all KSFR Cinema Scope broadcasts I’ve done here.

Had the pleasure of judging the Business Professionals of America‘s state competition in video production and broadcast production this past Friday in Albuquerque, alongside KLUZ-TV’s Lisa Martinez, who filed this news report about the BPA state competitions immediately after the event. Really impressed with the high school students who scripted, storyboarded and produced videos about school bullying — and especially impressed with their presentation skills. Who knows? They may be pitching their projects to Hollywood someday!

Another visit this week to the Film Program at Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) — this time to talk to Film 239, Producing and Directing the Independent Film. Great students, who were very interested in how Celtx facilitated the pre-production workflow by enabling script breakdowns and the generation of production reports. Of course, all of that is explored in great detail in my book Mastering Celtx, particularly in chapters 5, 7 and 11. More blow-by-blow here, and thanks to instructor Kelly Bahr for bringing me out.

Adobe Airstream (Santa Fe edition) features a nice writeup/post-mortem on our screening of the “Best of” the New Media Film Festival, authored by Hannah Hoel and including a few quotes from me. In addition to reviewing the screening, the article muses about whether film (as both a tactile, analog capture methodology and and as a delivery system) is on the way out. That’s a question I’ll let the marketplace dictate — but thanks to Hannah and Adobe Airstream for the spotlight!

I’ll be guesting on a pre-recorded segment of KSFR-FM‘s Cinema Scope program tonight: Friday, February 3, at 6:30pm MST (5:30 West Coast, 8:30 East Coast). You can live-stream the broadcast or listen to it live at 101.1 FM in northern New Mexico.
The primary topic is the upcoming screening of the “Best Of” the 2011 New Media Film Festival (happening Monday, February 6, 7pm MST at The Screen in Santa Fe), which will include a video-Skype Q&A I’ll conduct with award-winning dancer and filmmaker Lily Baldwin. There’ll be a smattering of other SFUAD Moving Image Arts news as well.
