2 Days in L.A.

Saturday morning I hopped on the first plane out to L.A. and spent the weekend on the Raleigh Studios lot, attending a 2-day screenwriting seminar conducted by brilliant screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga, author of Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and The Burning Plain (which he also directed). (Arguably, one of the great screenwriting “runs” in history.)

Saturday night — in between the two day-long sessions — I spent with a frequent collaborator as we mapped out the resumption of two spec feature scripts, both of which have potential avenues for production funding … the session starting at Lucy’s El Adobe, which has its own hallowed place in L.A./Hollywood lore.

Sunday night: just enough time for a La Brea Bakery panini at LAX before getting on the last plane back to New Mexico … and now let’s see if we can advance some projects in the months ahead…
