For the second year in a row, readers of the Santa Fe Reporter have nominated Outdoor Vision Fest® as “Best (Event or Festival) of Santa Fe.” Now readers are selecting the winner for the category — and I would love anyone reading this to head on over to this webpage, and cast your vote for OVF® as “Best (Event or Festival).”
It seems a tad unfair that OVF is pitted against multi-day and sometimes multi-week festivals — and I would point out that the only other one-night-only event nominated in this category is the annual burning of Zozobra, which has been going on for nearly a century. (Environmental and safety note: we don’t burn anything at OVF.)

Outdoor Vision Fest® 2016 is in the books. The annual event that I co-founded in 2011 and have produced ever since attracted 3500-3800 people to Santa Fe University of Art and Design‘s campus on a chilly (and rain-threatening) Spring evening (April 29) — this in a city of 80,000.

If you missed the live broadcast of KVSF-FM‘s weekly “Art Beat” this Thursday, you can catch the podcast here. My colleague Professor Tom Miller and I spend an hour with host Kathryn Davis, discussing Outdoor Vision Fest® and its impact on Santa Fe’s art scene, along with providing verbal snapshots of some of the nearly 50 installations debuting this April 29.
Great segment today (April 27) on “New Mexico Film Works” — KVSF 101.5FM’s and the New Mexico Film Office‘s weekly radio broadcast on news and events involving the local film and media industries — with co-hosts Don Gray and Belle Allen, and guest (and faculty colleague) Lisa Lucas — all to discuss Outdoor Vision Fest® 2016. Podcast posted as soon as it’s available.

My colleague Professor Tom Miller and I will join KVSF-FM‘s The Richard Eeds Show on April 21 (Thursday morning, 9am MDT) to talk all things Outdoor Vision Fest®. You can live-stream the broadcast here: we anticipate about a 30-minute segment starting just after the hour. Find out the latest about developing installations, a special surprise musical guest, and more: all in the lead-up to the event itself on Friday, April 29, as darkness falls.
A little more Outdoor Vision Fest® coverage from Santa Fe University of Art and Design‘s student-run magazine The Jackalope: a Q&A with yours truly. More to come in the weeks ahead…
Missed the live broadcast of the Richard Eeds’ Morning Show on KVSF-FM? Fear not: you can click here for the replay, where I’m joined by SFUAD Performing Arts contributing faculty member Jocelyne Danchick—as we offer a first preview of this year’s Outdoor Vision Fest®, happening April 29, 2016. This is just the beginning of the OVF2016 roadshow, as my colleagues and I spread the word about this sixth outing of the event—which has quickly become a Santa Fe favorite.
The Outdoor Vision Fest® 2016 media tour commences earlier than ever, with a guest spot on The Richard Eeds Show on KVSF, 101.5 FM, this Thursday morning at 9am MDT. Outdoor Vision Fest (OVF®) is the one-night-only media event I co-founded back in 2011, taking place on the campus of Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD). OVF has become one of the most popular annual events in Santa Fe, culminating in nearly 3000 people heading on campus last May, as well as a nomination for “Best (Event) of Santa Fe.” (Hint: you can nominate OVF for 2016’s “Best of Santa Fe” at this site.
